چکیده

Amino acids and peptides present in waste water may produce byproducts which are potentially unsafe and may lead to serious health and environmental problems. Removal of these parent compounds by the use of the environmentally benign oxidant can be of much use to the human kind and the environment. Degradation of these peptides can be done by the Oxidation of amino acid residues which is considered as one of the best degrading methods. The kinetics and oxidative degradation of dipeptide, glycol–glycine by peroxomonosulphate in neutral medium (phosphate buffer, pH 6-8) was studied at 278K. The rate was the first order in [PMS] and glycyl–glycine. Variation of ionic strength and effect of dielectric constant has no effect on the rate of the reaction. The main product of the reaction was confirmed as (2-oxo-acetylamino)-acetic acid (OAA) by IR and C NMR. A suitable mechanism explaining the degradation of dipeptide by PMS is proposed in this paper.

Photodecomposition of direct red 81 (5-solamin) by using nano sized zinc oxide deposited on glass beads in neutral and alkaline pH and various atmospheres

This research describes photo degradation of direct red 81(5-solamin) in the presence of zinc oxide nano-sized catalyst supported on granule glass under UV light irradiation. The effects of some parameters such as various pH and different atmosphere on photo degradation efficiency were studied. After various experiments it was revealed that among various atmospheres, at neutural medium, oxygen ...

Anthracene degradation by an oligotrophic bacterium isolated from refinery soil

Anthracene is a widespread environmental pollutant with carcinogenic and genotoxic properties. Biodegradation is a simple, cost-effective and safe technique to clean-up contaminated environments. The aims of this study are isolation and characterization of an oligotrophic bacterium with the ability to degrade anthracene and the assessment of in vitro biodegradation process. For this purpose pet...

Therapeutic Effect of Deferasirox and Glycine on Chronic Cadmium Toxicosis in Rats

Objective: It has been shown that deferasirox can reduce blood and tissues lead content in animal models. In this study the effect of deferasirox alone or combined with glycine as an antioxidant was evaluated in chronic cadmium toxicosis in rat. Methods: Male wistar albino rats were exposed to 200 ppm cadmium in the drinking water for 3 weeks and treated thereafter with deferasirox (140 mg/kg),...

Host-Pathogen Interactions: IX. Quantitative Assays of Elicitor Activity and Characterization of the Elicitor Present in the Extracellular Medium of Cultures of Phytophthora megasperma var. sojae.

Resistance of soybean (Glycine max L.) seedlings to Phytophthora megasperma var. sojae (Pms) is in part due to the accumulation in infected tissue of a compound which is toxic to Pms. The accumulation of this compound, a phytoalexin called glyceollin, is triggered by infection, but it can also be triggered by molecules, "elicitors," present in cultures of Pms. The ability of the Pms elicitor to...
